The purpose of the Women's Division is to increase goodwill and to actively participate in the promotion of the commercial, civic, agricultural, industrial, and educational development and community interests of Leavenworth, Lansing, and Leavenworth County. Enlisting the talents and training of civic-minded women for the betterment of the community, we cooperate with the plans of the Chamber of Commerce.
Membership in the Women's Division may be held by:
A woman who is a member of the Chamber of Commerce
Women employees of Chamber member firms
The wife of any member of the Leavenworth-Lansing Area Chamber of Commerce
Any woman who joins the Leavenworth-Lansing Area Chamber of Commerce by payment of dues, who has retired from a business that is a Chamber of Commerce member, or has worked for a business that has belonged to the Chamber of Commerce in the past
Any woman who is a widow of a man who at his death, was a Chamber of Commerce member, may continue to belong to the Women's Division upon payment of dues. Annual dues are $15, prorated after June.
The Women's Division is governed by a Board of Directors, consisting of nine members elected to serve three year terms, plus the immediate past president.
Throughout the year, the Women's Division serves the local community through a variety of volunteer events.
Student Government Day is held each January. High School students work alongside local government officials.
The Beautification Committee selects Beautiful Yard Awards May through October and December in eight divisions of the city. A Chrysanthemum Tour of backyards is held every other year with the Cushing Hospital Homes Tour.
Calls for the Bloodmobile Drive are made by a committee each Spring.
Leavenworth County Junior Miss winners have gone on to become Kansas Junior Miss eight times! Based on poise, academics, talent, and interview skills, this is the largest scholarship opportunity for college bound junior girls each spring.
Sister cities of Wagga Wagga, Australia, Omi Hachiman, Japan, and International Officer Wives of CGSC students are honored by the International Committee.
Incoming CGSC students are introduced to Leavenworth at the two-day Welcome Coffee held at Bell Hall each July.
The ATHENA Award, co-sponsored by Henry Martens Chevrolet-Oldsmobile-Cadillac, Inc., recognizes women who excel in their jobs and community service.
The Holiday Chamber of Commerce Open House begins the holiday season festivities.
