Actively works to assist local businesses expand and to attract new businesses and jobs into our area; has provided assistance to businesses that have created hundreds of new jobs and millions of dollars of capital investment to our local tax base.
Active coordination and participation with industrial development and other economic development organizations.
A leader in the development of plans and actions to foster retail growth in our area, to include retail recruiting and the reduction of retail sales "leakage" to other areas.
Sponsors and coordinates programs, seminars and workshops for members on diverse subjects important to business, e.g. marketing, business plan development, cash flow controls, and shoplifting prevention.
Annually conducts the Leadership Leavenworth-Lansing Program, designed to promote and develop new community leaders. The program has over 180 graduates.
Aggressively represents the interests of our members as necessary, to include at municipal, county, state, and federal government levels. Studies legislation and lobbies on behalf of our members; testifies before legislative committees on bills that impact our members.
Acts as liaison between the business community and government, social service agencies, schools, and other organizations that are essential to the quality of life of our community.
Acted as lead agency in alerting and working with our congressional delegation to prevent over 800 jobs, with annual salaries over $22 million, from leaving the Leavenworth-Lansing area.
Develops and conducts programs designed to market our area nationally for tourism, conferences and conventions, to include direct assistance to such groups.
Responds to thousands of requests annually form local, national, and international sources, for tourism, relocation, and general business information and data.
Conducts public candidate forums and public legislative review sessions involving candidates and area legislators, including taping and broadcasting these events on local cable TV as a public information service.
Conducts "Operation International" annually, providing a local sponsor, American language and culture classes, several social events, and a host of other assistance activities to CGSC international officers and their families.
Co-sponsor, with our Women's Division, the Athena Award to the Business Woman of the Year, and assists the Women's Division with several of its programs.
Supports an annual summer youth program that provides summer employment, structure, and earnings to our youth, as well as a positive work experience and a sense of responsibility to job and employer.
